Since the first time I visited and totally fell in love with Japan in 2012, Tokyo had been on my to do list. Normally, I tend to gravitate more towards ancient ruins and the like, but there was something about the Japanese capital that kept calling to me. I don’t know if it was the lights, the anime, the technology, or the weird subcultures, but once again Japan has managed to amaze me and completely threw my preconceptions out the window. Here are five things I expected which surprisingly were not so. Let’s get started!

My Top 5 Pet Peeves

I don’t really talk about myself often in this blog, and well, that is just the kind of person I am. While my coworkers would attest that I’m more than ‘just a little talkative,’ when it comes to cyberspace, the less the public knows the better. No offense but… while I don’t mind revealing some things, I am just not comfortable with strangers, or family, knowing every little detail about me. That is the kind of thing people should learn over time, or face to face, not all at once over the blanket of ones and zeroes. I guess what I am trying to say is that this post is a rarity, so cherish it!

I would also like to dedicate this post to my coworker Mark Beukema. I told him I would name drop him and here we are. We agree on very little, but somehow, we make our semi-homo-erotic relationship work.

This is a semi-serious question. Does anyone still use postcards? In today’s age where you can instantly send email, or a text, snail mail still has its appeal with some enthusiasts. But do postcards also stand the test of time? In my opinion, a resounding NO! Postcards are terrible… I hate them with a passion and I always have. In fact, I can’t think of a single thing I like about postcards. Why are they so bad? Here are five reasons.

No one can ever go to every single corner of the earth, and in fact, no one ever has (that we know of). Even Donald M Parrish Jr, who has been rated as the most traveled person in the world has only been to 96% of the planet’s territories. While most of us have come to terms that we will only dream of being to as many places as Mr. Parrish, we would like to believe that we could at least go to the places we really really REALLY want to visit if we set our minds to it right (really)?  Everything is possible if we try our best…or so we are told. Not so fast cowboy, as there are some places that are so limited, chances are, you will never be allowed to visit.
